Smiling Hints

• Smile at work – do it consciously several times a day. You may notice that at the end of the day, it seems to have been a good day overall.
• Smiles Are Contagious – when you give one away you will get it back, and you will both enjoy the side effect.
• A smile can make other people feel a bit happier. Your smile has the power to make other people feel good about themselves. Give away heart-warning smiles often
• Smile genuinely – smile with your eyes!. You know ‘the smile on the dial of the crocodile’, or ‘the smile on the face of the tiger’; don’t let those be yours. When you feel it genuinely and it will come out naturally.
• Make your smile a ‘little compliment’. Your smile can be silently acknowledging someone for something, something you admire about them. When you tell them with a genuine smile you will lift their spirits.
• Smile at Strangers. I know your mother told you not to, but try it anyway. As you walk along a busy street and smile at a stranger, they may smile back and the person behind you will get the smile too – and pass it on. Pretty soon you may have created a whole street of smiles.
• Smile fully. Think about your smile when you are in the street, at the checkout. These are often times when we just give a polite smile. Think about making it a full-on smile, and see what happens.
• For a few days jot down a list of the things that make you smile – take a look at that list from time to time during the day.
